I can run GW on my work laptop and get more FPS than that. My laptop has a GMA 950, 1gb RAM and gets 20-50 FPS... The problem probably isn't Vista, my laptop runs on Vista also.
Its really weird, you should be getting more FPS
I have a question though, can you tell me your FPS in kamadan ad1 and in Isle of the nameless. Just post them here plz.

From my experience RAM doesn't have a lot to do with the fps. I'm playing guild wars with an middle/low end graphics card with 768 MB of RAM, and I usually get around 20fps. Not much, but more then what you are getting at least. Something must be seriously wrong.

erm, imo and exp. of changing cards, proc, and comparing their differences..i think everything has a role in fps.
Processor increases fps slightly, i changed from a single core to dual core and experienced a 10-15fps increase @ max settings. The previous one was no lag and so is the new one. I guess the system compromises fps for less jerks..although low fps WOULD look like jerky..
Graphic card does have the major role here, 64mb of vram is just too little for GW, imo i was first running on 5200FX 128mb and i had like 20fps@ max..upgraded to 7300GS budget card and i get 38fps max..in battles..recently changed to 8600GTS OC and i get a max of 45fps. New drivers everything.
Than..i changed my main board to one of the latest and fps jumped to 75+. Nothing else was added. Thus i guess its the bandwith ur mobo can handle and process btw processor and GPU.. i have changed ram from 256 to 512 to 1gb to 1.5 to 2..and id say 1gb would be enough. Anymore and there is no diff..unless u alt tab alot and browse, music etc.. 512mb is fine. 256 is just..impossible with windows xp.
For vista, my friend has a vista com running on 512mb ram and 64mb vram shared..meaning 448mbram left..and it lags like mad on 2d games, so i cant comment on gw..
I suggest upgrading ur specs or if ur on a laptop, kill unnecessary processes. Defrag is your friend. Kill anti virus as its a ram sucker. Msn, Iexplorer etc.
My friend on 512mb and 128mb vram even went to the extent of killing explorer.exe to play gw...and reenabling it afterwards for smoother gameplay..and he can achieve 25fps at lowest settings in battle.. Of course, avoid dist ones..
on dist1 he gets 10-15fps..kamadan..
hope that helps..
edit:
To ts..on answering your qn of increasing fps, ur vram is now @64mb i presume, and can go to a max of 446or 512mb. Increase ur Vram via bios during startup. Press Del or F1, depending on your system. Find the Shared Video Memory and change it to max. I think you have enough ram, 2gigs i guess. or 256mb would suffice. Also, your lappy could be running hot. When they get hot..they slow down..no kidding..get sufficient cooling..

...Have you tried reinstalling the drivers? When i first loaded up this pc i had major trouble with GW simply because the drivers that had been preinstallled were bugged (And wouldnt let me reinstall, i had to manually remove... hurrah for prebuilt pcs ) So maybe check you have the latest installed clean?

on most notebooks you'll rarely ever get a fully dedicated graphics card. most notebooks will come with intergrated graphics card that shares (rather pulls) memory off the RAM of your system to share w/ card
so based on your specs, you have 2gb of ram w/ 1983mb avail which leaves you with 64mb shared to your video card.
given that your video card is set to 64mb, you will experience extremely low framerates at any level.
what you need to do to correct this is to go into the BIOS and set the graphics adapter shared memory to 256MB. and this should pretty much solve your problem.

back when i was playing this game on a shitty comp before i made my new one... i had this problem.... what you want to do is...
1. go full screen. usually playing in windowed when windows has to render background screens and windows it takes more gpu power.
2. run at a low resolution.... if you are on a lcd you screen may get blurry if you are running anything other than your native resolution. CRT's should not have any problems.
3. put gfx on lowest and turn off anti aliasing.
4. definitely turn off post processing
5. update graphics card drivers
6. and look into buying a new card asap....

That, and my laptop doesn't allow me to adjust RAM allocated to the gfx card in the BIOS.
Kinda sucky.

Since you're using Home Premium, you can kill Aero to free up some allocated RAM. Since my dwm can eat up to 121k, and without Aero, dwm eats 5k max. Vista doesn't really hog that much memory without Aero.

i have the dv-6700 laptop, just a tad lower in spec than yours
tk-57 cpu
2gb memory
GeForce Go 7150M
I get around 12-20 fps in kamadan at storage, using high detail EXCEPT disabling post process effects. With that checked, it'll slow to 8-15fps. also, using the -noshaders switch gives me a decent boost by about 5 fps.
Isle of the nameless runs fairly smooth @ 25-35fps with these settings.
Of course, I did know it wasn't going to run as nicely as on my desktop, but it is still playable.

I've used to have low fps. This was due faulty drivers and inconsistant system. Now I have a new system (6months old) with Dual Core Processor 4GB ram, 2x Geforce 8800GTX 768MB each running Vista Ultimate 64bit. Mostly running one grafic cart because it makes to many noise.
My FPS is around 80+ with everything on highest detail in every outpost/area.
My laptop runs same stats only with a grafic cart 8400GS
FPS on laptop on highest detail is around 35+

I would suggest the OP and everyone with very low framerates on nvidia-based computers to first go to www.nvidia.com and download drivers for their graphics and/or chipset. I suspect that's where the problem is.

I agree with Numa.
Try to minimize spyware as much as possible. Some games are sensitive to spyware (Call of duty series for example). Defrag the GW.dat file with the program mensioned in one of the other threads. It reduces the number of files enormously, so all files are found much faster.
Placing a mid range graphics card and increasing your memory abit can help too.

As far as i know Nvidia doesn't directly support the laptop drivers, thats the job of the manufacturer. It might work, but it might not. Worth a shot though.

Most laptop manufacters have a build-in application that auto-updates your entire system of the latest drivers. You can find it at the manufacters website. Just need to know the model etc to find the right software.
